Prof Lawrence Young

Lawrence H. Young MD is professor of medicine (cardiovascular) and professor of cellular and molecular physiology at Yale University. He serves as vice chair in the Yale Department of Internal Medicine and has mentored PhD and medical students, post-doctoral trainees and junior faculty.  As a physician-scientist, his primary interest is elucidating basic cellular and molecular mechanisms of cardiovascular diseases.  His laboratory investigates the role of AMPK in protecting against metabolic stress and myocardial remodeling in the context of ischemia, heart failure and atrial fibrillation. The over-arching goal is to develop novel therapeutic strategies for the prevention and treatment of heart disease.
